Unit 1.1 Part A- Identify and agree an appropriate arts challenge

As part of my arts award challenge, we are creating a production based upon the theme of rivers aimed at 7-10 year olds.

Within this production, I hope to personally take on the challenge of choreographing dance/movement sequences. Though, I have danced for 9 years in various productions, meaning I know that this challenge is hopefully achievable, I have never choreographed sequences to be performed, whether full dance or as physical theatre. I know I have a strength in creativity, being able to convey many concepts such as the movement of water in this production effectively and efficiently! However, I know I struggle with my focus, often becoming distracted if not fully engaged within an activity.

In order to achieve my challenge, I hope to study the movement of water, translating that into the dance sequences effectively. I will study the movement of water via pictures, videos and actually study it in real life, via the nearby rivers and streams.

To achieve my challenge, I don't necessarily need much support to choreograph these sequences, however, I will show my dance teacher, Lesley Hill, my routines in order to get her opinion and see if she believes that I have effectively shown the movement of water.

My action plan in order to achieve this goal follows:
1. Decide upon the different types of water movements e.g. stream, river
2. Study pictures of water, looking at the movement, fluidity and levels of the water
3. Study videos
4. Study the local River Ouse during all weather
5. Translate this study into movements, testing out different ideas, finding the most effective ones
